Phunemployed

Philadelphia (-iladelphia) + Fun (-F) +/- Employment = Phunemployed

Jen K. told me about Philly Ad Club and suggested I look into it as a way to network and start to get my foot in the door for Philadelphia copywriting/marketing/publishing/etc. jobs.

There’s a Philly Ad Club sponsored karaoke night at the Field House Thursday, August 18.
Theoretically perfect since I’ve been warming up on Tuesdays at National Mechanics for the last few months.
Oh, and also terrifying.
And expensive.

Anyone want to pay to come be awkward with me? I mean, to come network with me?

It’s that or the Young Involved Professionals (YIP) happy hour at PYT that night gathering Philadelphia alumni.
Even more terrifying than karaoke mingling.

Small Business Marketing for Dummies

Brought to me by my local library.
I’m doing some freelance marketing. I should probably learn something about it beyond intuition and personal experience, right?

In no particular order:

  • Call Landlord
  • Reply to JK
  • Look at PD things
  • Read/Research Eva Brann
  • Look at Bike Book
  • Look for internships
  • Research networking thing
  • Make a calendar
  • Fix D’s bike glove
  • Straighten up house
  • Return/Renew library books
  • Read marketing book
  • Email contacts
  • Schedule HP/car with C
  • Finalize new blog set up
  • Look at pretty blogs
  • Update resume
  • Update writing sample
  • Apply for internships
  • Wash TOMS

I wish it was raining so I’d feel justified staying inside to do these things.

Happy Friday!
Don’t let The Man (T-Rex) get you down (eat you)!

Being unemployed is actually really busy.
I haven’t actually spent a day just hanging out watching TV doing nothing.
Nor have I
read all those books and
learned all those skills and
researched all those things and
written all those brilliant pieces and
sewn all those skirts and dresses and quilts and
started all those brilliant happy-making businesses
I thought I would finally have time to do for self-betterment.

It’s kind of bumming me out.

I haven’t even kept up this Phunemployment blog.
How did I ever get anything done before?

And this is the best image you get when you Google image search “busy unemployment.”

It just makes me feel like a slacker for not finally wearing my TriSarahtops head around on the el for a day.
Maybe I should start there.

And more to-do lists.
